Michelle and Daniel
The forecast for Michelle and Daniel’s wedding day was heavy rain.
The two words a wedding photographer does not want to hear.
As it happened, the weather gods heard my silent prayers and gave us the perfect day!
The ceremony was held in the courtyard at Old Parliament House Canberra. It included a beautiful traditional tea Ceremony to pay homage to Michelle’s family. The tea ceremony is traditionally for a couple to pay gratitude and respect to their parents for the years of love and nurture. It also symbolises the new extended family that the couple is about to embark on. I love seeing cultural traditions still playing an integral role in many modern weddings here in Australia.
This is the second tea ceremony I have captured as part of a wedding day and felt really privileged to be an observer.
Later in the day we found a little enchanted woods 2 minutes from Old Parliament House. It was getting close to sun set so we had beautiful light peering through the trees for wedding portraits. Then it was back to Old Parliament house for a well-earned refreshments. This was followed by a slideshow that pulled at some heartstrings. It was full of childhood memories, family adventures and Michelle and Daniel’s travels as a couple.
The rest of the evening was spent groovy dancing on the floor and laughter that culminated in a glow stick send off for the pair.
Thank you Michelle and Daniel for letting me capture your wonderful family wedding.
Here’s to many more new adventures for you both as a married couple.
